The Beginning of the Volt-Lab Innovateitt Journey
In 2019, the journey of the Volt-Lab Innovateitt started in its humble beginnings. There was no big manufacturing unit, no big team, and no established product line at that time. For the companies that provide complete-electronic-design solutions to start-ups and companies world over, it began with a single freelancer.
Many service providers only looked at mechanical design or electrical design of the product development process, while Innovateitt adopted a wider strategy. The company was able to claim the status of a total hardware innovation partner, able to go from concept all the way to a working physical product.
This fully-integrated system helped Innovateitt to differentiate themselves in a very competitive world market. Rather than just delivering part of the suite, it offered customers a complete product development solution under one single roof.
Electronic Design to IoT and AIoT
In 2021 Innovateitt joined the booming Internet of Things – or IoT – sector. This enabled the company to develop connected devices that could communicate with each other, gather data and enable better decision making.
The company took a bold step ahead in 2024 when it ventured into AIoT (Artificial Intelligence and IoT) technology. This was an important milestone in the journey of a startup focused on IoT and AIoT which Pakistan could proudly showcase the world.
All products were developed in a correct way. Typically, the process began with a prototype, then an MVP, then pilot production and then mass manufacturing. This systematic approach ensured the business’s quality, minimized development risks, and allowed the company to make products ready for consumer use.
Building Advanced Products for Global Clients
Innovateitt have worked on numerous high tech products for international clients over the years. The projects demonstrate excellent capability in complex engineering and actual hardware solutions.
Producers have created smart consumer wearables that require curved batteries, power banks that are easy to carry, and a smart vehicle identifier device with an IoT component for a start-up company in Zimbabwe. These projects highlighted that the technical capabilities of the company as well as versatility bestowed by its service of different industry sectors.
It has also had numerous overseas projects, including an AI-powered waste-sorting machine delivered to a company in South Korea. One of the most interesting projects he worked on was an intelligent scientific calculator with an inbuilt camera for a Belgian startup. The device was able to effectively and intelligently solve the problem since it adopted the logic provided by ChatGPT, which has the effect of the device taking a step toward more advanced AI-assisted product development.
Launching Volt-Lab for Pakistani Electronics Manufacturing
For Mohsin Farid however, 2023 proved a pivotal year as he launched Volt-Lab, a new product brand aimed at promoting the electronics manufacturing industry in Pakistan. The objective was to create, develop and locally produce electronic products rather than relying solely on foreign solutions.
The WiFi Router UPS is one of the most significant accomplishments of the Volt-Lab. This product has been created with a real problem in Pakistan in mind; fluctuating power supply and load shedding. Volt-Lab demonstrated that local innovation can directly address the local needs through the production of a locally made power-backup solution for power-operated routers.
It was a turning point for the company. Innovateitt is already known for its service-oriented hardware development solutions, but with the introduction of Volt-Lab, the company ventured into manufacturing and began to aim towards becoming a product-manufacturing and true hardware innovation company that the Pakistani audience can identify.
Challenges in Local Hardware Development
This was to be no easy trip. The first challenge was the lack of understanding about the product designing and hardware development in the local market. Very few people understood the importance of local electronic product development or needed to put in the technical work to ensure the development of reliable hardware.
Another challenge was ordering prototypes to have electronic components. Customs duties could shift at a very quick rate and there was always difficulties with regulations which slowed down and caused delays in the process. Exporting prototypes was also problematic, as with some items, customs officials could impose limits on exports of electronic goods.
Another serious problem was courier charges. At times, shipping costs increased drastically, even rising up to six times overnight. Such modifications caused considerable hassle for any growing company in terms of planning and in the process of budgeting.
The import of 3D printers was also a complicated process. It involved some 10 government departments, including the defence agencies. Domestically produced 3D printers were also available, however, their accuracy and precision was not up to the level required to develop advanced products.
Confidence in Pakistani Engineering Talent
Despite all these hurdles, Mohsin Farid remained very confident of the engineering skills of Pakistan. Observing this in real practice, he has found that the engineers of Pakistan can match and even surpass the international standards if they are provided with proper opportunities, tools, training and professional surroundings.
This faith was entered into the corporate culture. Local restrictions were viewed not to be barriers to be avoided; they were obstacles to overcome with improved solutions, better systems and to be implemented with more disciplined execution.
The First Major International Breakthrough
Following nearly 1½ years of persistence, Innovateitt was rewarded with its first big international contract worth USD 15,000.00. This was a significant achievement for the company and brought to the forefront that their total hardware based solution was a mechanism capable of global competition.
This success was due to a clearly understood reason. In a time when most of the rivals were delivering only a part of the product development service, Innovateitt was delivering full product development support within one roof. Users could come with an idea and get assistance from design to prototype and on-going from there.
The company began to grow its business after this breakthrough. The fight paved the way for confidence, experience and a solid ground in subsequent growth.
Growth Built on Ethics and Trust
During its first three years, the company achieved an impressive 100% growth rate. However, this growth came with financial challenges and sacrifices.
In the beginning, the company often worked without taking advances. It also offered unlimited free revisions and followed a strict customer satisfaction policy. In some cases, refunds were issued even after the work had already been completed.
Although these practices created short-term financial losses, especially when some clients defaulted, they helped the company build a strong reputation. Innovateitt became known for trust, transparency, and ethical business conduct.
Mohsin Farid believes that the company’s success is strongly connected to its moral values. Careful commitments, staff training, on-time delivery, and high-quality work became the foundation of the business.
Investing in People and Long-Term Relationships
Instead of focusing only on short-term profits, the company continued to invest in its team and client relationships. Staff training remained an important priority because skilled employees were essential for delivering high-quality hardware and AIoT projects.
This people-focused approach helped the company develop a stronger internal culture. It also allowed the business to serve clients more professionally and handle increasingly complex projects.
In Pakistan’s entrepreneurial environment, where many businesses focus mainly on quick results, this long-term and ethics-based approach made Volt-Lab & Innovateitt different.
Current Operations and Manufacturing Capacity
Today, Innovateitt operates with a more organized and automated system. The company uses an automated order-booking process, advanced production management tools, and structured internal workflows.
Its manufacturing capacity has reached up to 500 units per month. The internal team includes 12 production employees, while marketing is handled through outsourcing. Customer handling remains managed in-house to maintain better communication and service quality.
Mohsin Farid continues to serve as the Founder and CEO of the company. His leadership style remains hands-on, allowing him to stay closely involved in product development, operations, team building, and long-term strategy.
Corporate Success with Telenor Pakistan
One of the company’s most notable corporate achievements has been its work with Telenor Pakistan. Innovateitt developed a centralized facility and cooling management dashboard that could be controlled through a single unified system.
This project strengthened the company’s reputation in Pakistan’s corporate and industrial sector. It also showed that local hardware and software engineering teams can develop practical, high-value systems for major organizations.
Such projects have played an important role in positioning Innovateitt as a serious technology partner for businesses looking for smart, reliable, and locally developed solutions.
Shifting Focus Toward Product-Based Growth
From a financial point of view, the services division has remained the most profitable part of the business so far. However, the company’s long-term strategy is now focused on making Volt-Lab’s own products the main revenue drivers.
To support this shift, the management is working on improving financial systems, strengthening sales and marketing channels, reinvesting in research and development, and making internal operations more efficient.
This transition from services to product-based manufacturing is a major step for the company. It reflects a larger ambition to build Pakistani electronic products that can compete in both local and international markets.

Future Vision for Global Expansion
The future vision of Volt-Lab & Innovateitt is strongly global. Over the next one to three years, the company plans to launch new B2B and B2S products, enter the Middle Eastern market, participate in international technology exhibitions, and establish a sub-office abroad.
This international office is planned as a regional order-booking and export hub. It would help the company serve global clients more efficiently and create a stronger international presence.
The long-term mission is simple but powerful: to make Pakistani electronics products competitive on the global stage. Through local manufacturing, skilled engineering, and AIoT-based innovation, the company aims to prove that Pakistan can become a serious player in advanced technology manufacturing.
Advice for New Entrepreneurs
For aspiring entrepreneurs, Mohsin Farid gives practical advice based on real experience. He believes entrepreneurs should start small, focus on solving one meaningful problem at a time, and grow with discipline.
He also believes that challenges in government policies, customs, and regulations should not become excuses for giving up. Instead, entrepreneurs must learn to find smart alternatives, build strong systems, and remain consistent even when conditions are difficult.
This mindset has shaped the company’s own journey from freelancing to product manufacturing and AIoT development.
A Story of Trust, Talent, and Technology
The story of Volt-Lab & Innovateitt is not only about hardware, machines, or electronic devices. It is about building trust through ethical work, training local talent, solving real problems, and believing that world-class technology can be designed and manufactured in Pakistan.
From a single freelancer in 2019 to a growing technology and manufacturing brand, the company’s journey reflects the power of persistence, vision, and principled leadership. It stands as an inspiring example of how AIoT innovation in Pakistan can reshape industries, support local manufacturing, and encourage a new generation of entrepreneurs to think bigger.
